Waldemar Kolbusz

Waldemar Kolbusz was born in Perth in 1969 to Polish parents. He was formally trained as an accountant and began working as a full-time artist in 2000. He is a prolific abstract painter who has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Australia. Over a relatively short period Kolbusz has received substantial critical acclaim and his work continues to garner interest and recognition nationally and internationally. His work is part of several high profile corporate, public and private collections in Australia, New York, Brunei, Germany and Spain.

Waldemar Kolbusz is known for his dynamic abstract painting that expresses a language of form and colour. He is concerned with employing challenging combinations of hue and shape to paint artworks that generate an original awareness of colour and feeling. Kolbusz's canvases pulsate and resonate with their free and broad saturation of colour to take in the eye of the viewer. Kolbusz's attraction to the abstract stems from his belief in the over use of lifelike depictions and inanimate objects in art. His interest lies in the task of painting 'life' into seemingly inorganic patches of colour. The result is a solid production of work that is geometric, poetic and intense. This abstract expressionist style of art, with its bold use of colour, infuses shapes with movement and vigor to fill the canvas and delight its audience.
