Emma Camden was born in Southsea, England and emigrated to New Zealand in 1991. She completed a BA [Honours] at the University of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. Her work has been represented in major solo and group exhibitions in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Camden has been awarded several arts prizes including, Ranamok Glass Prize, Sydney, 1999; Major Glass Award, Royal Easter Show, Auckland, New Zealand, 1996 & 1997 and the Norsewear Art Award (Premier Winner) New Zealand. She has also been awarded several grants and scholarships including the Creative New Zealand, Professional Development Grant, 2007; Professional Development Grant, Wellington, New Zealand, 1998 and the Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship, Stanwood, WA, USA. In 2002 her work featured on a New Zealand Post Stamp ‘Arts Meets Craft‘ ($1.30 Image of Towers).
Emma Camden is represented in major public collections including, Auckland City Museum, Applied Arts Collection, New Zealand; Dowse Art Museum, Lower Hutt, New Zealand; Ebeltoft Museum, Ebeltoft, Denmark; National Art Glass Collection, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, Australia; Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane; Ta Papa, National Museum, Wellington, New Zealand and the Wallace Arts Trust, Auckland, New Zealand.
